19th century folk art watercolor and pencil portraits, dated 1837. The sitters are identified and the portraits are inscribed in sepia ink "Daniel Weigel of York County and State of P.A." and "Susanah Holtz of York County and State of P.A.".    Under the glass and attached to the top of each portrait are ribbons;  brown fabric covers the edges, of which more remains on Susanah than Daniel.  Fabric borders and ribbon are common traits of early PA folk pieces.  The portraits have been professionally framed in reproduction corner-block "period" frames.  The portraits are untouched and well preserved, with minor foxing to the background which occured prior to the professional framing.  Provenance:  Chris Machmer collection.
Dimensions:  sight
6" x 8"; frame 9.75" x 11.25".
