Jane A. Davis watercolor of a barefooted young girl in a yellow dress. The facial expressions of Davis’s portraits of children are quite memorable, perhaps because they capture a child’s discomfort of having to stand still for so long. This portrait features a little girl in a yellow dress with dark polka dots and green trim around the neckline, waistline, and hems of the sleeves. White pantaloons extend to her ankles. Her chin length brown hair, parted in the middle and pushed behind her ears, frames her face. Painted on a slightly heavier and darker paper and housed in a lemon gold frame. All in excellent condition. Provenance: Private Collection; Private CT Collection. Dimensions: sight 5 3/8” x 7 1/8; frame 7.5” x 9”.
