In the best robin’s egg blue frame, this 19th century watercolor is entitled “The Horse”. A naïve watercolor that appears to be rendered by a younger person who took care to accurately represent the what a soldier (possibly a Civil War Union soldier) and his horse would look like at that point in time. The period single beveled edge frame features the original robin’s egg blue paint that complements the blues in the soldier’s uniform. Provenance: Originally in the collection of Ted and Carole Hayward of Yankee Smuggler Antiques. Dimensions: sight 6.75” x 9”; frame 9.5” x 11 3/8”.
