19th century General Store Trade Sign. No two general store signs were alike, as each advertised its specific array of goods that were sold there. This particular shop offered an interesting array of fresh and homemade provisions. Most likely from a New England coastal establishment (oysters), the sign has a tombstone crest, a light-colored background, a variety of fonts, and elaborate flourishes on the top and bottom of the sign. In very fine condition with expected in-use discoloration to areas of the background. Provenance: Private Midwest Collection.
Dimensions: 44.25” x 12.5”.
