Early American Antiques
This endearing Prior School portrait is of a young boy in a blue dress. He has a cherubic face, bright blue eyes, and ginger hair. He is holding a rattle which was an accessory that early portrait artists frequently used to indicate that the sitter is a boy. Painted on artist board, this portrait is in original grain painted frame and is in excellent original condition.
Ex. Zoler Collection, Sotheby's, January 2005; Barbara Pollack; Private Collection. Dimensions: sight 9.5" x 13.5; frame 12.25" x 16.25".
