Oil on wood panel ca. 1840.  Identified on the back in pencil as “The Great Pond ‘illegible’ Connecticut” this skillfully rendered bucolic scene in a soft palette features a pond surrounded by grassy parkland, wispy trees, and a sailboat with its reflection in the water. Visitors stroll and sit on the shore, a man on horseback, a playful black and white dog.  Original painted frame.Dimensions:  Frame 27.75 x 21.25, sight 23.5 x 17.
