A delightful portrait of a young woman, New England, ca. 1840-1845.  Oil on academy board attributed to William Kennedy.  The young woman is fashionably dressed in the style of the period.  The lighter shaded background and trees are unusual features of Prior School portraits.  The portrait is in excellent condition; the grain painted frame and glass appear to be  original.  Ex: Mary Allis, Southport, CT. Dimensions:  sight 9.5" x 13.5"; frame 12" x 16".
