Jane Anthony Davis watercolor on paper of a young girl c.1845.  This is a lovely image in a period veneered frame.  The child is wearing a red dress with ruffles at the bodice and sleeves.  She has a very sweet face and blue eyes in pencil and watercolor. She is a particularly attractive example of Davis’s work.  For additional examples of Davis’s work, see “A Loving Likeness; American Folk Portraits of the Nineteenth Century”, pgs. 14 & 15. Also “Three New England Watercolor Painters”, pgs. 42–55. Dimensions:  sight 3” x 3.25”; frame 7” x 7.5”.
