Early 19th century New England pine frame with pleasing form and original surface and condition. The slim frame features a moderately arched crest and the original glass with its inherent bubbles and flaws. The surface has what appears to be a nicely patinated red/brown washed color. Constructed with very tiny t-head nails, backed with a single board that has never been removed. The frame holds a page from a book or newspaper with the verse, “The Last Words of a Respectable Man”. Rare to find such charming piece in this state of originality. Dimensions: 5 5/8” x 7 7/8”; depth ½”.
Provenance: Well-respected New England collection; Robert Thayer.
