delft plate make-do repair

This late 17th/early 18th century delft plate is a wonderful example of an early make-do inventive repair.  Holes were drilled on each piece of the broken ceramic.  Metal staples were heated and then inserted into the holes.  As the metal staples cooled, they contracted, thereby creating a tight and secure repair the has stood the test of time. Dimensions:  diameter 11.25".
