Painted pine framed 24-tube candle mold, ca. 1840. A wonderful piece of early lighting akin to the candle molds of J. Walker, Lavonia, NY. The top of the mold is fitted with a sheet iron recess that holds 24 sheet iron candle tubes. Housed in a red washed rectangular wood frame that has applied molding and is constructed with square cut nails. The frame sits on a shaped bootjack carved base with raised arched legs that is designed to sit on a table or bench. An attractive, decorative, and functional piece of early American lighting. Dimensions: 11” x 7.5” x 11.5” height.
