A wonderful piece of early 19th century make-do lighting.   A section of an early pewter candlestick is riveted onto a boldly turned wooden base.  The base appears to be maple and retains its original color.  Rare form in excellent surface and condition.  Provenance:  Private Collection; Joan Thayer.  Dimensions: overall height 4.5”, height of base 1.75”; height of candlestick 2.5”, diameter of base 3.5”.
