18th century diminutive and richly carved Spoon Board. The well-formed and balanced carvings feature three circles down the center, each with a different interior design.  The top circle features a pinwheel design, under which are carved initials “LKB - MW”, indicating that this piece was likely presented as a love token or wedding gift. The center and bottom circles each feature their own complex carved designs.  The interior edges of the circles are chip carved, as are the sides of the board. There are two spoon racks that each hold four spoons, the same spoons as in the photos below that show this piece in situ in the Keene home. The spoons range in size from 3" - 4.25". The date of 1722 is carved just below the lower spoon rack.  At the very bottom is a series of decorative carved arches (one arch lost a long time ago; see photos).  A fine and rare piece.  Provenance:  The James O. Keene Collection (see photos of this piece in situ in the Keene home).  Dimensions:  5” x 15.5” x .25”.
